I would like my ignition switch to be keyed the same as the other 6 locks on my 1974 CJ5. YES, THE KEY "TYPE" IS COMPATABLE BETWEEN ALL THE LOCKS. How do I remove the ignition lock cylinder so I can "re-key" it to use one key for all locks? This is what I WANT TO DO and no other solution need be suggested!

The best advice I can give you is to take the lock cylinder, and the key to a good locksmith shop, they should be able to make it for you without any issues

Found the spring latch that locks the cylinder into the housing. Depressed it and the cylinder slid right out.

Now you need a wafer kit to ReKey it properly. Any other way , the bad guys will be able to start it with a screwdriver.
Good Luck & let us know how you do......

I am curious, where are the other 6 locks on your 1974 CJ5? I believe there is only the ignition lock on my '74. Thanks!

Man O' Man.......'Ol CO. hasn't gotten a Lot more Scary , in the Last 20 years. In Parker , We could leave our Horse's tied to the outside trough, on E.Main Street , Whilst we were at the inside one .

I think I need one more lock. The gas can lock only secures the can to the bracket. With gas price today I need something that locks the lid so someone can't open it.
