If I’m reading your drawing correctly, I read it to say starting at 0 degrees, TDC of Cyl # 1 that it is firing #2 plug, Im thinking make existing tower 2 into new tower 1 and rotate distributor body until new tower #1 lines up with rotor and move the wires 1 position. I love the drawing!

Hey all, first time in the forums, but it seems like I am having the exact same issue as Ernie. My father and I had all the same thoughts this thread seems to touch on with no luck of getting the evens to fire correctly. Was wondering if there was any solution found to Ernie's problems? Thanks in advanced for any new info. We've been scratching our heads for most of this summer with little headway. Love the diagram btw!

Some additional information will be helpful. What engine (225, 231, etc) and what distributor would be a good start.
    Thanks,

    Tim,
We have a 225 oddfire from 1969 that we rebuilt. We purchased a distributor from Walck's that says its for 1110322 and 1110342. I'm commenting on this thread because it's the most relatable to what we've gone through with similar parts and last I read, Ernie was going to inspect his carburetor to see if any issues could be resolved there. That was our next thought as well and I wanted to see if there was any updates before we start tearing into things. We've got a Weber carb.

    Thanks,
    Cody

I purchased this complete distributor from Amazon for about $150 and put it on my 66 CJ5 and it worked great. Even came with all the wires. Not sure if that helps or not but figured I would share.

I would say that by far the most common reasons for the odd fire running rough after the distributor has been out is it doesn’t get installed correctly or it is an even fire distributor. I know I’ve screwed it up before and after being sure I’d done it right, took a break, came back and discovered I was wrong. I think the last time I did that, it was a simple matter of being one post off (clockwise I think) on my plug wires. It ran ok-ish but was down on power and I’d get some popping out of the even bank on deceleration. So…I’d break out the manual to review the procedure, bring #1 up to TDC on the compression stroke and then take a pic of your cap with the wires on it and a pic with the cap off so we can see where the rotor is positioned. Post them up for us to look at.

the boy had his distributor installed one tooth off at the cam,ran just like the op said his did.it lined up enough to get the drivers side firing but nada on the other. pulled the dist and went one tooth forward on the cam and now it gets all 6.
