What Dana 30 Do I Have ?

I picked up a narrow track Dana 30 with disk brakes to put under my '61. Date codes on this axle read 1979 , it has the 6 bolt lockouts but the weird thing is that it has 3.07 gears. I am pretty sure they are factory because the tag also says 3.07. I didn't think the narrow track was ever offered with this ratio. Any idea what I have ?

I wonder if it could be for a Scout II ? I think they had disc brakes at the very end.

Probably late ‘79 early ‘80 unsless someone changed the hubs to 6 bolt hubs then could be later. Those are not the “thick rotor” caliper brackets used ‘77 into ‘79

Would the Scout have the same width as the narrow tracks ?

No Scout is wider than CJ wide track plus went from Dana 30 to 44 for front somewhere around ‘76.

Nope. Completely different disc brake mounts than Scout 2 in the picture. Disc brakes on Scout 2’s came around somewhere around ‘74ish.

‘73-‘74ish. Maybe as late as ‘75

I'm no Scout expert but I think the D44 for the front was an available option, not standard equipment.

Yep. It will work just fine. Rotors are Raybestos 3552R and the calipers Cardone 18-4014 (driver’s side)/Cardone 18-4015 (passenger side), Duralast C218/C219

Not true. The years I mentioned above there were some crossover where 44 was an option but for a very short length of time. By ‘75 44 front with disc brakes was standard equipment until the last year of Scout 2 in 1980.

I bought a 1973 4.27 Dana 30. I had to modify mine to get the 6 bolt hubs and disc brakes. Wish I could use your 79' outer with my 4.27 gears.

Funny, I need 4.27 gears for my Dana 30.
