I'm working on a D30 for my 73. I want the E locker, and new 3.73's (on hand) and of course disc brakes. I have disassembled the 3.54 gears and had new ball joints installed. I bought new rotors, pads, calipers, bearings, etc. for the build. When I got down the wheel hubs and spindles that I was sure were for a disc brake unit, well they were not. They have smaller spindle, and bearings.
Will a drum hub work with a disc brake spindle? I do have a set of disc spindles (bigger).
How many parts will interchange with a old style disc brake setup?
I have already bought parts for this style thinking I had wheel hubs on hand

compared to the newer, I think, 2bolt mount, like this.

    any help appreciated

    Yes I have.

I've been doing some searches and read about using the disc rear bearing and the drum outer bearing. It seems to work.
I have also read about machining a flat place on the back of the hub so the disc will set flat against it.
After laying the disc on the hub, the area with the white line looks like the spot. Anybody confirm that?

because the chamfer is not deep enough on the disc correct?

If all that works out, I have at least 1 more question
I pressed out 1 of the studs and measured the holes in the hub and also the new disc.

    I forget exact numbers but,
    hub - .610
    disc - .670
Do I drill the holes slightly in the hub or ??

The machined flat refers to the entire face the rotor will mount against. Your hub looks to be a cast finish requiring all the studs to be pressed out and the back side of the hub faced smooth. It does not need to be faced down deep but it cannot have the rough cast surface against the rotor.

    OK I think I understand.
    Basically mate 2 machined surfaces
Or try to buy a set of disc hubs

Buy the disc hubs. Machining drum hubs is a 50/50 crapshoot at best. You'll likely have too much runout, wheel stud retention issues etc.

I just put out a feeler for hubs.
I would consider new ones if they are available
