If you're hinting that yours is I'd say 100%....otherwise I'd think pretty low.

I'm sitting in my deer stand thinking about my problem, wondering what my next step is if the new fuel pump won't work.

Didn't you have it running for a few months recently? I'd guess if the lobes were THAT worn, it would have always been an issue and it would not have worked at all with the last pump.
That said, Make sure the pump arm is riding correctly on the lobe when installing and coat the arm/pivot in oil BEFORE installation to reduce premature wear. Just incase.

A couple other ideas to chew on:

I always had issues when I ran a filter between the tank and pump so I moved my filter to just before the carb. It's also been mentioned that having any rubber fuel line clamped metal line creates a weak point that can leak fuel or air. My solution to this was to use a glass-bowl fuel filter, just before the carb, on NiCopp fuel lines. It not only looks great, but you can see if there is any crap settling in there and reduced the chance of an air leak elsewhere. Here's a pic of my set up as attached to my solex:

Also, Just rattling off ideas in my head.... if are gonna remove the 6 screws in the pump to flip the in/out directions... Make sure the little rod under Pump diaphragm remains attached to the pump arm inside.

I noticed on one of your posts you mentioned needing to buy a fuel cap to go with your new fuel tank. Did you get a Vented or Non-vented cap?

You had it running with at least one of the various fuel pumps you have installed. That indicates the cam lobe is doing its job.

    A show of hands please.

How many people here have ever had an F-head fuel pump cam lobe "wear out?"

Wasn't the question regarding the condition of the cam lobe answered back in the middle of June with the picture in post #111?

Have you talked to Scoutpilot about your pump, also try a small remote gas tank(think one off a lawn mower) strap it to the fender and see how that works

20231119_113415.jpg Junk in the seat not letting fuel pass.

That's embarrassing. Thumb tack for reference

    "Junk in the seat"

    What seat?
The more important question is -> Where did that "Junk" come from?

Looks like a wad of sealant of some kind. Flare fittings don't need sealant, and there shouldn't be any of that anywhere in the fuel delivery components.

Where the needle is, inside the carb, under the float. Not sure where it came from, and yes, I know there shouldn't be any sealant in the fuel system.

Now I've got a new tank, and all properly made hard lines from the tank to the carb.

My confusion about what you meant by "seat" is because this latest round of discussion began with you saying "Ok. new Fuel pump is bad." Then you said you ordered yet another fuel pump. I thought you might be talking about one of the check valves in the fuel pump.

Now the problem is junk in the carburetor that looks like a wad of some kind of sealant. That stuff had to come from somewhere in the system. Most common source for this kind of problem is when someone uses RTV or similar sealant on the gasket for the sending unit. The stuff oozes out, gets softened by fuel, drops into the tank and causes a clog somewhere downstream. Usually don't find stuff like that making it all the way to the carburetor, provided there is a good fuel filter preferably between pump and carb.

Exactly my thoughts. And yes, the new fuel pump I bought from omix was bad after 3 months or so. The QTM unit came in a generic brown box and I'm hard pressed to believe it's not just a repackaged omix

So you’re sure you’ve been having fuel pump issues, and this wasn’t the problem all along?

The only thing I'm sure of is that after I installed the new qtm fuel pump, cranked the engine over, and the glass bowl filled with fuel almost immediately.
I removed the hard line to the carb because it still wouldn't run. I cranked the engine over and fuel pumped out, so it was now verified to be getting gas to the carb.

To me, the next logical step was to see if gas was actually entering the carb, so I removed the upper half, removed the float, and looked down into where the needle is, where fuel enters and I saw that piece of crud down in there.

I removed it, reassembled it and it fired right up. Could that have been the issue the entire time? Yes. Still like to know where that glob of crud came from, and how it made it past the fuel filter. My tank liner I did a few years back was red, not Grey so not likely to be that if a piece came loose

Glad to hear it fired up! Sometimes the issue can be a few things at once and not one single problem. Hopefully all the work you did will pay off and you can breathe easy!

Also, if you haven’t given the carb a full tear down/cleaning, now might be the time haha. That’s prob not the ONLY chunk of junk in there. Might as well be safe than sorry
