    Replacing 65 CJ speedometer.
The paint on mine has turned to dust.
Repro's available from Omix and Crown. Are they any good?
Or should i try to find a nice original?
    Anyone have one available?
    Thanks in advance!

I have had no luck with anything from Crown Omix including their speedometer. Reach out to our group here I’m sure someone might have a good one or will be able to tell of a reputable company that can restore yours. I bought one for my ‘77 from Speedhut to the non purist hard to tell it from OEM uses no cable so no matter tire size it’s accurate. They are not cheap but I’ve had mine going on 13 years and have had no problems.

I think you should search existing threads. ;)
I had bad luck with one of those aftermarket models (bad fuel gauge, odometer quit, etc.)
I sprung for the electronic Speedhut model that looks just like original. It's GPS powered and works great.

I had 2 from OMIX, I got 5000 miles out of 1 and 10K from the other.
Finally found a used original on ebay. It's still going strong
I really wanted the GPS type, but 1000 bucks is out of my price range.

I personally went with autometer gauges because i dont care about keeping mine original. Several members here have had good luck with speedhut. Crown and omix are terrible quality and should be avoided

I used their speedo with electronic sender and their gps module to get rid of the speedo cable.

Debella had some NOS originals at one point, might be worth giving him a call.

I would avoid the Omix-Ada (Crown is same thing). I bought parts inventory from a 4X4 shop a while back which included several of those speedometers. Nobody wanted them even at less than half the cost they list for. They look good, but have terrible reviews.

Originals still pop up on eBay. If you do find one off eBay, be sure to remove any old grease that has hardened on the inside components!

I also have the Speedhut gauges. I installed them 1 year ago and so far they are great.

If you don't need original gauges then I highly recommend them.
