How much angle should I put in my rear axle? I have to move the pads in since the Commando had outboarded springs. I'm adding 4" lift springs because they were on.sale for $100 per spring and I need to clear these 33x14.50 Boggers. I don't have a drivetrain yet, but I have a Dana 20 that will likely go in since it's a centered rear.

Put -0- angle until you get your complete drive-train, springs and weight on the springs. Just put the rear in temporarily and do any welding last.

You got a good start. Is this a new build?

Ya I bought a tub for my 71 that came with a frame and axles, but a 2wd front and a 4.56 rear. The frame is in really good shape except for twisted front spring hangers, which I fixed today, so I decided to start bolting leftover parts to it. I've spent some money, but the idea is to put together a CJ5 from scratch as cheap as possible. I was offered a really decent late 60s tub for $100, which sorta pushed me into this project.

How well will a CJ7 grill fit to my 71 frame? I know the front crossmember is different, but it looks like my 71 frame and the later frames both use a single hole in the crossmember to bolt the grill to.

Well, mine finished for today, or maybe later today. I started out of a gifted pile.

    thumbnail_P_20190618_201040.jpg

    Then I found pile #2

I forgot to get pics of pile #3

    Then after 4 years, I have this. thumbnail_P_20190618_201040.jpg cj5 (2).jpg thumbnail_P_20190618_201055.jpg P1010122.JPG P1010121.JPG thumbnail_P_20190618_201040.jpg

Sorry pics are out of order, blue, then yellow then bright yellow, Ron

So the rear D44 out of the Jeepster has a traclock in it, which is a cool surprise. This jeep will be getting a 304/T15/D20 out of another Jeepster. I did a clutch job on a friend's CJ5 in exchange for the drivetrain. I'll likely rebuild the D20 with 2.46 gears.
