How late did Jeep make a flat head 4 for the CJ line?

I'm thinking they started putting F-heads in CJ's in 1952-53, with the beginning of the CJ3B and M38A1's, but I don't know that for a fact. 2A's, 3A's, and M38's all had the L-head. And I have no idea when they actually STOPPED making the L-head 134 engine; that may have still been in production for other applications long after the introduction of the F-head, for all I know.

they may have been used in wagons after '53, but i dont think they were in CJ's

They used the L head in the DJ3a until 1964, at least according to my Jeep poster.

    nickmil In mothballs.

:iagree: The DJ-3a body that's on the race Jeep was a '64 and I know it had an L-head in it. It still had the Vin tag and motor in it when it was dismantled by the previous owner. Nickmil
