I sent him a picture and he's gonna see. He just had an operation so he's iffy on a quick response.

Mine was just as Wyomike had pictured, I took mine off awhile back when I mounted my license plate to the tire carrier.

The ring or spacer you're talking about is used to space the tag bracket out from the body to keep it from rubbing or being against the paint.

Hope this helps. Should not be hard to reproduce and would most likely be in demand.

I think we already knew that, at least I did when I started the thread. The question was how long it lasted in production, not it's purpose, did you have more information on the ring that's not been mentioned yet?

For what it's worth my 67 didn't have any spacer. I have the original Hall tail lights in really good shape but no spacer. At some point someone added another set of taillights because the aftermarket turn signal switch didn't support tail lights and brake lights, and although the original Halls were there that doesn't mean they hadn't been removed and the spacer lost at some point. ??

Spacers are done but not the rubber gasket. The earlier jeeps didn't have the rubber gasket, it appears.

I'm also looking for original taillights. I havent been able to open the pictures, perhaps they have been remove. If anyone to send pictures of the 71, I would be greatful.
