    sammy Coca-Cola?

Started collecting parts for the build...So far, 8 bolt H1 bead locks and scored this today for $250. Wasn't "pulling the drum in, it worked when I took it apart but it won't now. I haven't had time so I just want it gone. Too heavy for my Jeep"
Motor ran but didn't turn the drum, pull the clutch off and drive shaft ain't spinning. Pull the gear cover off and there's a woodruff key sitting in the bottom. Hmmm, wonder where it goes? Grip the input shaft and drum turns... Hmmmmmmm. Put the woodruff key where it belongs and I have a working winch. I reckon it to be a 12k lb winch from a wrecker. [IMG]

Sounds like a great project. I look forward to watching it grow! What size tires? Steering?

Right now are some bald 37's... But my buddy and I are thinking 40's eventually. Got a FF 14b from a 02 D-max today.... I made out like a bandit with that one! Now I need a 44 or 60 pass-drop front. Steering is in the air right now. Either power Wagoneer or full hydro (may be easier and cheeper in the long run) The engine is getting picked up this weekend, it's a SBC 4 bolt main.

Go ahead and go full hydro. The 14bolts out of the newer trucks are a little more expensive to build, the gears are the same but all the bearings are different than the older one. Are you going to build a new frame or work off this one?

I was just reading on Pirate in the "unofficial willys forum" about a guy named Sammy that has a tan Willys and he just scored a second jeep to build. It sounded strikingly familiar...........

the PBB guys think that it's a bad choice of rear end... but the discs are nice and how much I gave up for it isn't bad at all. Full hydro may be the way to go. The frame will most likely be 2x3x3/16ths box.

Shooting for 100" wb. was going to do 1/4 elliptical rear and YJ leaves front but i'm thinking 1/4 all around.... 90* approach and departure... LOL

The 88 and older 14 bolts are more desirable but avoid the 84-85 years, they have a much smaller pinion bearings. You should be able to find an older one for 100 bucks or so. Sell that new one and find the older one. The disk brake conversion for them isnt much. If your starting from scratch you may as well start with the "right" parts. I made that mistake when I started building gold that I thought since I had some parts that I had to use them (ended up costing more in the long run, and took more time)

Man as light as that rig is gonna be I'd seriously look at air shocks over the 1/4 elip. Much more adjustability and nicer ride.

I want to try and keep with an old school theme with this one again as well. I almost thought of using a model t style rear end, one leaf spring pack and wishbones R)
