I posted this on a couple other forums, and I figured you guys would be interested in it as well!

My Great Grandfather was a member of the first ever Incorporated Jeep Club, the Yakima Ridgerunners, Inc.. He was also a very avid photographer and would take pictures, and even film, of everything he possibly could throughout his life. Luckily this also includes lots and lots of photos/film that include Jeeps!

We just recently started going through some of the film and photos (and there is tons of it) and started to covert it over to digital. It's very time consuming since all the slides have to be cleaned up because of scratches and what not, but we are slowly trying to get it all converted. And converting the film over to digital is expensive since we have to send it out, and just a 9min film cost around $40 to convert. We are currently looking into purchasing a machine to do the film conversions ourselves...

Here is a film we converted as well,

The sign in the first pic shows a spelling of my last name that I've never seen before.
Same as mine, but mine doesn't have the last "E":

Wow those are some neat pictures. I love the stills and the videos. I have to say though that what they are up to in the video would definitely not be considered "Tread Lightly" or responsible wheeling by today's standards. Up here in British Columbia the Fisheries would have a @#%% Fit if they caught you roaring around in a river like that. And we have new "Mud bogging Laws" that can levy huge fines for carving new paths in sensitive areas. These rules suck but we did it to ourselves. Lets hope common sense prevails on both sides. Thank god that guys like in these videos carved some of these trails for us 40 or more years ago to set the precedence and create these great trails we enjoy today. They really look like they are having a good time there as well. Thanks for sharing with us.

PS. Tires must have been expensive in those days as some of those guys have some really worn out treads there.

Cool! Is this the same Yakima Ridgerunners that I've seen in a LIFE magazine article? If you get a chance would you post this over on http://this-old-jeep.com as well? :)

Brendan: Yes, this is the same Ridge Runners Club featured in Life Magazine. In fact, some of the pics appear to be taken during the same period that the Life Magazine folks were filming. This image is a good example of that: http://www.jpzombie.com/members/casey-albums-jpzombie-family-classics-picture622-image018.html

JPZombie: Fabulous images and video! You might try speaking with Linda McCune (she runs the Don McCune Library -- http://www.donmccunelibrary.com/ aka Exploration Northwest) to see if she can reduce the cost of the video transfer for you. Linda also still has some video jeep club footage that I suspect includes some Ridge Runner Club members, as Don McCune seemed to have some type of relationship with the Ridge Runners.

Also, I'd be very interested in seeing more images of Wally's place if you have any. I'd love to be able to recreate the look of that garage for a future project.

    Thanks!

To JPZombie: Since I'm a nostalgic kind of guy, you get the "king for a day" award. Your photos are awesome. Thanks a million for sharing. I wish we lived in the days your grandparents. They knew how to live and live freely... :flag:

Very cool! Anybody else notice that nearly all of those Jeeps had the spare tire moved to the back, and not on the side? Same with my dad's Jeep and his hunting buddies too. Must have been "the thing to do" back when.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. My dad used to take me and the dog and do the same stuff here in Colorado in his 2A, which I still have. That was before the"Wilderness Bill" in '64. Your film brought back lots of really good memories. Thank You
