i have the opportunity to purchase a lightly used 352 from my school.
the motor is a plain Jane obsolete engine dyno paperweight that they want gone. it got a run today on the dyno and pulled 120ft lbs easy but that was all the dyno would load, (the dyno is special ;) ) but it pulled over 18in vac at idle, has good oil pressure, a 2v intake the only accessory is the water pump, but it comes with a clutch, bell housing and everything to run. the price is right and it has always been in a climate controlled room.

so question, i know there are some ford swappers but how many have a medium block FE in there jeep? is this overkill? will the sbcs think less of me, can Ross stay at his home or do i need to see Mr Saginaw?

my mental sketch is the 352, t18 or t90? overdrive t18 stock axles, 4.27s
i know i need a rear sump kit, larger radiator, firewall battery,
my goal is to handle the steepest interstate roads towing at least a teardrop.

The other option is one of them spinny things on my exhaust and intake that goes whoosh when i open up the hurricane's throttle

Wow, thats a big honkin motor to put in an early jeep and at around 650lbs or more is gonna be one heavy monster that is shoe horned in there. I can't see you being able to run a ross setup at all.

If there's one thing I've learned from this site, it's the repeatable data from tried and true swaps and upgrades is nearly priceless when it comes time to do the work yourself.
I think you said it all in your first paragraph.
IMO, this does not sound like a practical swap.

Take a look at this site and review the info on small block Ford engines.

Large boat anchor at best. Buy an old ford circa late 60's early 70's with a great body and drop that puppy in there. I have a 390 (same block) in my 76 F250 and that thing is one heavy mutha. In stock form they are nothing exciting.

as big a Ford fan as I am I don't think an FE is a good swap for a Jeep.....grab the motor and throw it in something else down the line
