Brake problems

I have a weird problem with my brakes.
I am running disc brakes up front, 10" rear drums. This past winter I upgraded to power assist on the firewall. They work amazingly well most of the time.
When I was down at Mirror lake I had an odd problem. On steep drop offs and climbs I would hit the brakes and the pedal would go all the way to the floor, practically no brakes. One person told me the pads may be bouncing away from the disc on rough terrain and then they take a push or 2 to get back. Super scary situation on steep climbs when you need to back up.
I plan to bleed them again and make sure there are no leaks. I checked fluid constantly during the 2 days and it was full. Drove down the hill from Shaver lake about 60 miles with no problems. Any ideas?

Hey Jeff, Rick had a similar problem with his brakes. He had his residual pressure valve plumbed in backwards. It only happened occasionaly. He had to be in just the right position for it to happen. Couple of pumps on the pedal and it was fine. Drove him crazy trying to figure it out.

Do you have the factory bump stop on the right front. If so does it hit the caliper on right turns.

I do have the bum stop, I'll check to see if it is hitting.

    Thanks John,
I am not running a res valve other that what may be in the M/C.

You may need to add a res pressure valve then. The point of the valve is to keep some pressure in the system to keep the pistons of the calipers adjusted to the rotors.

I'll give it a try. I have the 2# I ran on the in floor M/C. Do you think that would work?

IIRC I got rid of the Res Valve that came with the new (used from boneyard) M/C. Is the 2# enough? I'll give it a try.

2# is what you want for discs.

I think I get it but could use some further explanation.
When I was running the under floor M/C I needed the valve because the calipers were higher than the M/C, need to keep some pressure. I guess I need further explanation in what it does now. The M/C is mounted higher than the calipers so why the need for the res valve?. Is it just because of the odd angles I get into?

    Thanks for the replies.

Dragging this back. Do you think it would make a difference if I was using a M/C for anti lock brakes? Bendix makes 2 different models, with anti lock and without.
