If you're talking about the sleeve that holds the driven gear in place (the one that needs a 7/8" thin wall, deep well socket), it is not worth trying to force it out with vise grips. That will only mess up the threads (take a guess how I know ). I could not find a source for a new one but Herm the overdrive guy (in Washington state) sent me an old one for $4 plus $6 shipping. Don't know what he'd charge to send one to Israel.

...the one that holds the driven gear with the 7/8 ...

So only Herm sell that sleeve ?

    1. Just noticed that Dana18 and Dana20 TCs share the same speed. sleeve.
    2. Thanks to PackRat i found a vendor in Israel who claim to have that part.

My speed. driven gear has spiral groves and there wasnt any seal, as you said. Also my driven gear in the Dana18 is spiral groved. Never noticed a "smooth" one.
Didnt find that seal in the diagrams of the Dana20 ... are you sure about that ?

Now i have problems getting the Front Output Shaft out of the case (i follow the instructions on the TSM and the Novak pages).
I may open a new thread here to get some help.

Assuming that one with the seal is military spec only and not civilian yes?

Just wondering because the one I found for ZIV is the same part number from 1945 right up until at least mid 70's which is as far as I got. Just not seeing any other part number listed.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    Group 3.590-3 for the seal.
I don't think the seal started until 1974 or so.
At least that's what the book shows.

I'm not sure either when the seal started.
Didn't we discuss installing seals in non-seal adapters years ago ?
I was just going by the book....which isn't always correct for what you find on the vehicle.

Ain't that the truth ;). My later parts manual suggests 74 CJ could have had either so probably mid year change.
