Not sure what you mean by the "older type"

Don't have a photo handy but mine is supposedly original NoS. Chromed, slightly convex, ribs around the edge for grip, cork gasket.

    Year? It changes in 1970.

Good to put that info in your signature file - that way it appears with every post.

  4. I am not positive if this is the correct one for my year (59 CJ5 with under seat tank) buy I just purchased one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OEM...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3380bd6734 from this guy. He claims it is NOS OEM. I bought this to replace the chrome replacement style that walcks4wd.com sells that I bought about 6 months ago and I hate it. Every time I take a corner or park on a tiny slope it sloshes ALOT of fuel out. I LOVE THIS BLACK ONE I JUST BOUGHT ON EBAY!!!!!!! I have never had fuel slosh out and haven't noticed any fuel smells with it unlike that crappy chrome one. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] This one also has a cork gasket and a ball check valve and looks to have a company logo inside it that appears to say Talon or Falon or something like that I cant really read it well.

  5. Hi I saw a JC2a with the black gas cap pitched above.
So was that gas cap used thought the 1970s?
I know that the shop manual makes it clear to use a vented cap
Oh and that was a really good deal on ebay for the gas cap. Guess thats all

  7. My replacement chrome cap that leaked horribly from walcks4wd.com seemed to screw on nice and tight. which leads me to believe its not a loose fitting cap causing the leaks but instead being caused by whatever type or style of vent they employ. Original for my year or not im definitely glad I bought that nos black cap.

Yea, mine leaked so bad it peeled the paint off the body under the tub right after it was painted. I had to get the driver's side repainted
