    Below are photos of the original single-speed wiper switch on my '67 CJ5 that Jon referred to in his last post (on the first page of this thread). Regarding its location on the dash, the center of the switch hole is to the left of the steering wheel, exactly 5" from the left edge of the dash panel, and 4" above the bottom of the panel.

    The first several pictures show the original knob, and how the switch connects to the red power and brown parking circuit wires Jon mentioned in his excellent newly revised post above (the bluish-white wire is the 12v input from the ACC side of the ignition switch). The last two photos show the switch after cleaning.

    I know, old thread. Mia copa. That out of the way, Howard, can you please go into more detail on the diode fix? Can you point me to the diode that you used? Any photos of the installation, etc?

    I bought diode's to fix mine, but still have not put then in? I forget to fix it until it rains, I just let the wipers run until they catch up and both go down at the same time and they park. Duh.......

    Thank you Howard. On more question: That's a 1 amp diode. Is that enough amperage capacity?

    It's what I used, it worked for my motors but you can upgrade to something heftier without issue.

    Both of the 67 CJ5s I have came with top mounted vacuum wipers. I did not realize electric motors were also used with them that early. I assume it was and option.

    You're correct, the single-speed electric wipers were an option for the first time on the '67 model year CJ-5. I believe they were upgraded to two-speed for (or possibly sometime during) the '68 model year.

    Now I want a couple :drool;

    However, the vacuum wipers on my driver CJ5 work pretty good. They are not the stock ones, what I have are military surplus with the hand lever for backup, and a single valve on the dash. I do have the dual action fuel/vacuum pump which avoids some of the complaints for vacuum wipers, but not all.

    Yeah. It's interesting how many different diodes there are in that pack. The pack has the diode which you used and a 10 amper as well. We shall see. I'll report back. Thanks for the advice Howard.

    From what information I could gather, the two speed motor is just slow and slower. That being said, mine are single speed motors and would not do well in a good downpour.
    I used a two-speed switch and wired it so the driver wiper comes on in "low" and both come on in "high". This eliminates the back-feed when the motors attempt to park.
