Sounds to me like you're bored and need a new 2 U ECJ5 and start all over.

 

Agree. Or maybe they just need some 34x9.50 swampers on them.

 

235/85/16 is a 32 x9.5 or so.

 

Wheel color of your choice would certainly be a plus. It does take some adjustment to your eye when you go from a deep wagon style to a stock steel wheel.

Takes a little more adjustment of you go to 24's.

 

IMHO, it’s not the hard top. It’s the modified front fenders. Putting the 16” wheels on make the jeep look more original and the fenders look out of place. Don’t get me wrong, your jeep looks great with the 33’s but I would save the new wheels for your next project.

 

If the skinnys had an aggressive tread pattern I think it would look good. I think it's the tires that are ruining it for you.

 

you could add air conditioning. with your remote starter, it'd be nice and cool when you go out to drive it.

 

i like the steel wheels.
it will look better if you paint them and put some new knobby tires on them. It does look like a mail jeep at first glance with the top on.

 

I think the camera angle is looking down on the Jeep, which gives it a different prospective. A tire with a aggressive tread would make a difference. If you have not, look in the thread "Show Us Your Jeep", might get some ideas there. I some times wonder if I should have went with a smaller tire on mine.

You could just leave it like that, then I could say. " I now a guy who had a nice looking Jeep and fixed it up so it looks like a Postal Jeep.

What is under the rear end of the Jeep in both pictures?

 

I vote more aggressive skinnys and start sniffing around for some fenders, or remodel your existing fenders.

 

Some 1 1/2" spacers and 32 9.50 15 swampers would work well. The spacers would clear the brakes and get you out wide enough that the tires would just barely kiss the frame at full turn.
