Personally I think for most Jeeps with a winch the stock fan at Idle off road in 80 degree temp , just does not pull enough air through the radiator........a combination of the stock fan a shroud and a electric pusher does a pretty good job.................I also think there are allot more efficient fans out there below the 20 amp mark than can be stand alone cooling.

Just curious what brand fan you have? That thing does eat a lot of power. My 14" Hayden fan draws 11.5 amp in either direction. I agree, a mechanical declutching fan would be nice if space is available.

Ed, those numbers I got were from A1 Electric Online Catalog -- Spal Cooling Fans and Accessories . My fan is a cheapie from Amazon Amazon.com: PROCOMP SINGLE 14" INCH ELECTRIC FAN & THERMOSTAT RELAY KIT 39: Automotive and I bet it might pull more amps than that.

I think you did great! Your charge voltage is well above your previous value. Your not really discharging the battery at idle with all the stuff on. Your alternator is hacking the load just fine. Make sure your charge wire from alternator to battery is #8 stranded wire. That will ensure there is no resistive drop, between alternator and battery. Again, your problem is solved.
