Rebuilt my carb 2 years ago. About 1000 miles and 2 years later, had to rebuild again and it was the filthiest gummiest smelliest carb I've ever seen. I run ethanol treatment with every fill up and seafoam every third or fourth tank. Might be worth the extra effort and $ to start using marine fuel.

I run the Stabil Marine additive in all my stuff and have had good success. The Carter on my MB my Dad put on there before he died in 2000 and it's not been off since. And the Solex on my MB has at least 8 years under my stewardship without being taken apart as well. Hopefully you can figure out a solution that's not too difficult to pursue.

Gotta get out and drive it more!!:D But yes, the Marine Additive has worked well for me on long term/little used engines like my 3 wheelers...

Have you search for a gas station that sells non-ethanol gas or are is that not allowed California?

There are a bunch of docks with marine fuel by me but no gas stations carry it. I have to drive to a marina and fill gas cans and walk back to the jeep... stupid.

I did just have a screw up that may have worked to my benefit. There was a fuel filter (water seperator?) Just before the carb. In the process of cleaning it i dropped the glass bowl which of course shattered so I had to eliminate it. Now the jeep runs great with just a fram fuel filter. Still gonna try to stay on top of the additives to keep the gas from Gumming up my carb. I only get to drive it on the weekends but if there's bad weather in the forecast I don't take it out, so sometimes it'll be 3 weeks between runs and the carb let's me know about it. But I guess government knows best...

Which brand of glass-bowl filter was it and what was the composition of the filter media?

Fortunately in TN we can still get real gas.. I have made it a point to only run non ethanol in anything that is not my newish car.
