My '68 Jeepster failed to pass a road test and now I need to replace worn bushings on it. Does any of you know a affordable kit which I can order to refresh (all) the bushings?

I live in the Netherlands and local shops do not have a clue about Jeepsters...

Rugged Ridge is Omix Ada. A lot of their parts are less than ideal. They do not have very good Quality control.

Ok, thanks. Will go for partsdude I guess...

  7. I put my spring bushings in with a ball joint press tool on my 71 Commando.

  9. Yes, I use that tool for anything I can. So many strange knuckles and what-not on these newer vehicles and I use that tool a lot to press ball joints and often control arm bushings. Plus it's flexible enough to use sockets with it that fit bushings!

This weekend I ordered the part at partsdude4x4 (what's in a name:rofl:) and Don was very helpful and did me a good deal on the overseas shipping cost!(y)

Pfff, been strugling with the tie rod ends. How on earth do you remove those? Can't seem to get the press in there in a way that it actually would press the ball joint out...

  12. Tie rods I knock out of the knuckle with a hammer by smacking the knuckle with nice full hard hits where the tie rod goes into the knuckle. The tie rod will usually drop out of the connection from the shock.

To press out some ball joints (like the one I had to do on a Chevy Trailblazer the other day at work) I have cut off the ball joint stud with a cut-off tool, then I could position the press tool to remove the old ball joint housing.

Two of my favorite tools - hammer and cut-off tool.

Got them off... A video on Youtube suggested to put the knut back on and gently persuade the rod with a hammer... did the job...
