Spring Pad Width Question

    Are the spring pads on the front axles the same width on 76 and up as the 75 and older axles? I know the springs got wider in 76 but it almost looks like the pad is narrower than the spring. Can't get to my 79 to measure right now and thought someone might know.

    Yes the perches stayed the same on the front axles all the way through 1986.

    So, if I wanted the disc brakes from my 79 cj5 on the 75 CJ6 (that I bought from some dude in Bonney Lake, WA), I could just swap the whole front axle. Correct? That's assuming the 79 has 3.73's which it might.

    Yes. The knuckles will swap right over also which is really easy. New ball joints are a plus and you just keep the same axle. The 79 is most likely 3.54
