    Hey guys,

Just about done redoing my fuel tank / fuel system. The PO did some weird stuff with the fuel system so I have no reference.. What are you guys running on a stock dauntless as far as rubber fuel line size from for the made feed and return?

    Thanks!

I hate to be that guy, but search fuel line and you'll obtain a lot of threads about it.

I've always been told to use as little rubber fuel line as possible and, instead, use steel line as much as possible. Rubber deteriorates over time. Not that steel can't, especially in rust prone parts of the country.

With modern fuels, as in ethanol, I will research plastic (or some type of synthetic) fuel lines for any future projects.

Always use fuel injection hose, not fuel hose. Fuel hose breaks down much faster and is junk for anything but a lawnmower. Fuel injection hose is quite a bit more $$ but does not collapse or breakdown and is much stronger.

Well it appears 3/8 for the feed and 1/4 for the return... Thanks for the searching tip :D

I would gladly run steel but from what I can tell no one makes any reproduction steel lines for a 69 CJ5 V6..

Another question, since I am using the stock style fuel pump, what have people done with the line from the pump to the carb, with regards to connecting to a rubber portion. I know its braided and threaded so cutting it seems like a bother... Is there a fitting I can screw into the end that would mate up with a rubber hose easily?

I'd use standard brake tubing and fittings.

Yep - it's the same tubing as brake line. Cheep on eBay, if you buy a 25' roll. The import bubble flare or first half of a SAE flare (not folded over) works fine for the ends. Cunifer/Nicopp tubing works fine too, is bendable by hand, but is much more expensive than steel by the length.

You may encounter some problems trying to use 3/8" line for feed as all the fittings on pump and carb are for 5/16".

The feed line is 5/16" and the return is 1/4". I used 3/8" hard line that came in a 25' roll and used AN compression and barb fittings to adapt the hard line to rubber hose. I also used 5/16 hardline from napa that was pre flaired with the correct fitting for the fuel pump outlet to the carb.

Gotcha, this sounds good... I will be connecting to a Holly Avenger so I will have to adapt it somehow..

5/16 steel line from pump to carb.
Also, the factory fuel lines on a v6 are plastic, they run under the center of the body above the Trans and come out on the firewall behind the engine. From there, they are steel lines that run over the engine along the passenger side of the intake, then down to the fuel pump.

They run over the engine on the driver's side.

Focker is right, of course. Guess I shouldn't post late at night
You can kinda see the feed and return lines under the throttle linkage in the pic I posted above.
