The '56 CJ5 that I bought from Daryl out of Washington state finally showed up today. What an ordeal that was. It is everything I wanted in an early 5: reversed shackle; twin stick transfer case (thanks for removing the interlock pill Daryl!); venting windshield; the white speedometer; and its all original. Only thing that would have been even better is if it was a factory 4 speed.

Of course, I had to take it down a trail...

I had a spare set of old school 7.50 x 15 tires that I threw on it just to give it a better stance. I also mounted the spare too. I do like the way old jeeps look with the side mounted spare.

And my biggest critics approve of it too!

So the plan for this jeep is to install an overdrive, an original canvas top, some 7.50 x 15 NDT's, recover the seats, install the original side steps, add the proper decals under the hood, and enjoy. I'm in debate though if I should add a PTO winch and twin stick PTO. I have one I bought for my fire jeep. I was kind of toying with the idea of making this jeep a power line construction jeep. All of my rigs have a theme to them. Ted is the U.S. forest service, Red is the fire jeep, and I have a plan for the 55 chevy truck. ;)

With a little rubbing compound you could rub it out to the original silver color...

Hopefully everyone can see why I had to save this Jeep. From the first minute I saw it, I had to find this one a good home.

I'll get some under hood and under body pics tomorrow. You just don't see jeeps like this.

It came from Billings Montana. It hasn't been licensed since 1967. I am quite sure that the 17k miles that show on the speedo is actual mileage.

I think ted is going to be jealous. Don't let him see you caressing the 5's rounded hood.
