Yeah but it still tastes bad plus I can’t really pass the cost on the customer it was all operator error.

The nice thing about a Jeep is that even out of the factory they were not perfect. A purist CJ restoration is hard because we are trying to restore to perfection something that was never perfect to begin with. A friend of mine's father has been in the auto industry over 40 years and he enjoys telling us stories of going to the Toledo plant in the 70's and the guys on the lines used 8 ft 2x4s to bend the door frames to accept the body. As Tim and others said, far from perfection. Bottom line use the safety gear (that paint is bad stuff), put in a reasonable amount of prep time (it does show in the end) and do your best. Most screw-ups will only be seen by you and the high number of "wow! Nice Jeep" and the body shop cost savings more than make up for the elbow grease.

Can’t believe he’s painting on a what looks a dirt floor. Even on my concrete garage floor , I wet down the floor to minimize kicking up dust.

I’ve bought paint from TCI Global. Good prices and quality seemed ok, although I’m not anywhere near a professional. They also have a classic paint library and I know they’ve got the old jeep colors.

I have done body work for years and I keep seeing people say to fill with bondo... I strongly recommend not using bondo as for it attracts moisture and overtime will eventually start causing bubbles in your paint from rust developing... its something in the chemical compound in bondo that causes it. I recommend to those who are doing any type filling to use either a polyester body filler like Blaze Glaze or an aluminum body filler like All Metal. here are examples of what the look like.

USC Blaze Glaze Finishing Putty $27.06

USC All-Metal Premium Aluminum Filled Auto Body Filler $35.69
