Anyone know what the thread and diameter is for the nut and shaft that holds the steering wheel on? I need to run a die over the threads but the local Hardware had nothing. (Small town). Thanks!

    Supposedly 13/16"x20 TPI.

Most people just go to town on these things with a triangular file.

If you have an extra steering wheel nut with good threads, you can use a hacksaw blade and saw a groove perpendicular to the the threads on the inside of the nut and then run that over the threads on the column. Sort of a home made thread chaser. Just a thought. Some may consider it a last resort.

A trick I learned as an Ironworker, when the threads on an anchor bolt got burred setting columns, we would put the nut on it and hit the nut sideways to reshape the threads, turn it down and keep tapping the side of the nut until it would run by hand, this works pretty well for burred threads. Good Luck

Rick Whitsons' suggestion works great on hardened 2-3/8" diameter turbine studs, so it should be OK for the steering wheel threads. Good luck!
