I know I saw a thread on here but I can’t find it anymore.

My rear cargo area is concaved inwards(not a huge amount but definitely noticeable) and I need help with how I would go about fixing it.

    Thank you!!!

And, if you did get it flat again, how would you keep that way? They all seem to get beat down with use.

It was like that when I got the Jeep I think a previous owner used it to haul heavy stuff on the regular. Alls I have back there is my seat and a heavy rubber mat and I carry people around fairly regularly. Would that beat it back down?

Shrinking metal is a slow, tedious process.
Is it really noticeable with the rubber mat in place? I might be inclined to leave it alone and cover it up. I put the effort in on mine only because it had an annoying oil-can “pop” when you stood on it. Otherwise, I probably would have looked the other way.

No you can’t really tell with it on. I’m looking at repainting my floors so I wanted it to be as good as I can get.

These things are virtually impossible to get perfectly flat, or even reasonably flattish due to the amount of work required even if you have experience working with sheet metal. You'd save your selg a heck of a lot of time & aggravation just putting in a replacement floor.

Then add a few more hat channels.

Usually, the floor gets "saddle backed" as it dips between the braces underneath, making 2 or 3 distinct troughs. These are difficult to straighten out.

Darn. I guess I’ll just leave it for now and paint it anyways. Thank you for your help everyone!

I think it's very intelligent of you to query the forum. I've found that anytime I have repairs ideas, I tend to get very good support either confirming or denying the wisdom of said idea by folks who have "been-there-done-that".
