My 71 had one of those AMC tailgate badges, but it blew off in a car wash years ago.

Here's another renegade I was interested in buying years ago that has same tailgate sep 1970 build. It had been restored so any badge would be gone. His dash says Jeep not Kaiser.

On your October ordered 1970 renegade does the dash vin actually have a Kaiser Jeep printed on it. It must be a very late 1970 model thank you for providing this purchase document

The second photo montanacj included in post #32 of this thread shows that Kaiser Jeep dash decal. Though this Jeep wasn't sold by the dealership until October 1970, the decal indicates that it was manufactured in April of '70.

The 1970 model year production appears to have ended sometime during August of '70.

Thanks W2SNO. Maury, the amount of W2SNO's information is mind blowing! Not only can he tell you the day your jeep rolled off the assembly line, but can tell you every option, color and trim codes. He also has a blue print of every part, including every nut and bolt. Pretty mind blowing! He is the reason we know the "462" model was produced. He has the actual order form from Jeep to the dealers. Keith.

It's truly awesome to know that this information exists, and is safely in the hands of one of our community!

I read and re-read the article in Dispatcher Magazine a couple of years ago about the 462. It's a fascinating piece of Jeep history. I hope to get to actually see one of those Jeeps someday.

I worked with W2SNO and Jim Allen on that article. There is a pic of one of my "462"s in the article.

I believe that would be September 8. 1971 mine is august 22 1971

Correct, the engine tag is September 8, 1971. The 9 22 stamp on the radiator support indicates Sept. 22, 1971 build date - right? You are a month older!

My Renegade 1 has a build date of September 1970. It is orange and the VIN is 367694. It has a metal dash tag from the Bureau of Automotive Repair titled ENGINE IDENTIFICATION. I think it has a replacement motor as the metal dash tag shows a 64 in the box for year.
