I know that there is another thread on this here, however it is 10 years old and there was no resolution.

I am hoping that someone here still has this on their dash or at min the remnants so that exact dimensions can be taken.

Anyone here able to help preserve another piece of elusive history? Will look like the two pics below

Here's some pics from my '71:

    And it's basically 2"x0.5":

I forgot to measure how high above the switch it is, but could do that tomorrow.

Thank you Roy... Yes that would be helpful. Looks like maybe 3/8's above the point on the nut.

Roy, can you also confirm whether or not it has a clear overlay? When I blow up the pic it definitely looks like it has the same clear overlay as the VIN decal.

Unsure with 100% positivity, however I have it on extremely good authority by someone in the know that it was factory installed

I'll see if I can confirm that when I measure the height tomorrow.

Actually, looking at my original full res photo, there is definitely a clear overlay. I'll measure the size of it too.

It would definitely be gone by '73 when the knobs and labels were changed.

This is an aftermarket knob, but the original is similar. I don't recall if '72 had that label, but the dash mostly did not change from '71 IIRC, except for the steering column location.

    Finally got it measured.

Indeed the clear overlay is about 1/16" bigger:

The bottom of the white decal is almost exactly 3/4" up from the center of the switch:
