Dana 18 Intermediate Gear

You did real nice work on my gear and spindles thank you for providing this service to us jeep nuts .

 

This is definitely on my to-do list. My intermediate gear is pretty bad on the inside.
Question: Are the races easy to remove via a notch like the front hubs or are they in there for good?

 

Don’t know why you would ever need to take them out but there’s just enough lip in there to get a brass drift on it.

 

I would expect with enough time and pressure...
Also the contaminants of grinding gears or water intrusion will inevitably require new bearings and races. Our wheel bearings last a while but it isn't out of reason to replace them.
