What are the advantages and disadvantages of these early Bellviews as compared to an 8274 ?

 

IMO, the Belleview is generally a lot more robust design than the 8274. The cost of that is about 20 lbs more weight. The big advantage of the 8274 is power out but I don't think it's too difficult to adapt a 8274 (or for that matter the 9.5 XP motor) to fit these. Both winches use the same diameter/tooth count motor pinions. I believe the largest factor in Warn developing the 8274 was simply cost. It's a way cheaper to build design.
