Buick Fireball 225?

I’ve run across an advertisement for a 1964 Buick fireball 225 for sale. Is this the same engine as the dauntless 225, and would it be a suitable replacement for my Jeep.

The silly names that Jeep labeled motors with were nothing but marketing. A Buick v6 is a Buick v6 whether it was in a Jeep, Pontiac, Cadillac, Chevy, Oldsmobile or a Buick. Most interchange. The 61-63 198 uses a different bellhousing. Remember that any motor that is 40 to 60 years old is most likely just a core until proven otherwise.

If it is actually a V6 and 1964, yes. Same engine.

1962/1963 were the 198, so a 1964 would be the start of the 225...IMO....I love my little rare 198 Oddball...

Is the '77'ish 231 V6 used in Olds Omega (their version of the Chevy Nova) the same and use the same BOP bellhousing as the Dauntless/Fireball motors?

I believe the fireball is the 198 and the dauntless is the 225. I have the 198 and it’s fine, but I don’t think I’d purposely buy one because it’s sort of a rare motor and parts can be difficult to find… some, but not all, external parts are compatible between the 198 and the 225.

Yes, the motor mounts and bellhousing are the same as the Dauntless 225. It will bolt right in. A 1977 engine could be either even or odd fire. If it's even fire, you will need and even fire flywheel or will need to have a Dauntless flywheel balanced to match the even fire engine.

This is incorrect. Buick called all their V6s "Fireball" 198 or 225. My Dad has a 225 Fireball V6 with the original air cleaner decal from a '65 Skylark. That's where my screen name comes from. The Dauntless name was only used by Jeep.

When I was a teenager I had a 64 Buick Special with the 225, it was even the same color as the Buick Homersdog posted a picture of.

Loved that car, spent hard earned money from doing yard work to "fix it up" with a custom steering wheel and 8 track tape player. I was thinking of it as "my car", but I came home from school one day and Dad had sold it. He didn't offer me anything for the upgrades though.

I don't like flavored whiskey, or coffee, but that was funny.

The Fireball nips (50 ml) seem very popular around here. The little plastic containers litter the bushes near the streets - I presume they are bought to skirt the open container law. Open the sealed container, down the whiskey, toss the container in the bushes by the road. Leaves your breath cinnamon-y fresh.

66 proof is watery. Not technically a whiskey, with a minimum of 80 proof.

I've thought about putting away a case of it in small bottles as trade goods in case of an emergency. Popular but too awful to be tempted.
