Just realized I have CJ3A

I was told when I bought my Jeep it was a CJ5 '65. I did not know anything about old Jeeps so I thought that was what it was. But I have a cj3a and no idea what year it is now. It also has the 225 V6 in it.

Post the VIN# some of the guys here may be able to help you out with that.

 

If it is a CJ3A they ran from 48-53. Post the ID number like Jerry suggested and we can pin point the year. Pics would help.

 

A CJ5 V6 was a popular conversion for a flattie. I know of a few.

What was it that made you think it was a 3A rather than a 2A?

You know, just possibly it could be a 1965 DJ3A. Easiest way to tell if it was a DJ3A (which was 2wd from the factory) is by the dash panel. If there is one large speedo with the fuel and temp gauges integrated into it, it could be a DJ3A that was modified for 4wd.

If it started life as a 65 DJ3a (modified) the serial number would likely begin with 820x where x could be 1 - 4.

If the gauges are separate then it is a 2A or 3A.

Easiest way to tell the difference between 2A and 3A is to measure the wheeelhouse. The wheelhouse is the flat spot above each rear wheel that looks like a longitudinal jump seat. Measure the length of the TOP at the longest point and post that when you are posting the serial number.

I have the large speedometer but I also have 4wd. They must have converted it.

 

OK, then it very well could be a 1965 model.

sounds like a DJ3A that was modified for four wheel drive.
