Can someone who has gone through this process, or anyone else that know's off hand, tell me what color wire I am "supposed" to have running to the coil for the ignition???? I have a wire connected and it only will start once I let off the key. I know this is not correct, but it works. I would like to get it wired correctly. I have looked in my Haynes manual and it really doesn't have what I'm looking for.

    Thanks in advance,

I don't know the wire color but it should connect to the ingnition side of the switch. Otherwise, it will not get power until after you release the key.

Not sure what collor either but it sounds like your hot is hot in the run only posistion not in tne start and run posistion on the key switch.find a hot that has 12vlots in the run and start posistion that should fix the problem.

Yep, I'm sure you both have hit it on the head. That being said, I don't really know where to start:oops: Should this wire be coming from the column or the starter solenoid?????

    Thanks,

If you have a Multimeter. You should be albe to find a wire that has power on both the start and run key position. If not. Run a wire hooked from the ignition side of key switch to the HEI. Its pretty easy to do.

I just got done installing a HEI. My CJ-5 is an 80 I used the red wire with white trace that goes into the 2 wire plug feeding the breakerless module mounted on the driver's side fender well below the winshield washer reservoir. This wire come out of the fierwall harness and goes into the 2 wire plug.
