Perkins in a flatty?

Anyone running a perkins diesel in a flatty? wondering if it will fit under the hood of a 2A? ....Got a hold of crack pipe again.

 

I would love to see this happen. I can help ya find a Perkins. Just find a Massey Ferguson 265.

It's a heavy engine, that will mean 20,000,000 leaf spring pack per side. LOL

 

Interesting I didn't know they where in Massey Ferguson's. I'm wondering about the overall height. are they as tall as an F head?

 

much bigger in all dimensions. I think it will fit in a 3b no problems though. Could make the engine stick above the hood....like "shaker" engines

I have a 236 Perkins with a Muncie 465 tranny and 208 transfer case, presently in a rusted out Chevy half-ton. I hope to put it in a Willys wagon. It would be nice if someone else did it first and got the bugs worked out. If it can be done with a CJ 2a, the wagon should be a snap.

 

You want one out of a sail boat or genset or the like, the tractor engines are reenforced blocks and are alot heavier then the other versions .

Ive been planing the same for my CJ5.

 

Love the idea had been thinking of going perkins, can I make one eat vegatable oil? of an f suck propane? Anybody tried? my 67 wants a makeover:twisted:

I think that put a perkins diesel isn't a good idea. These engines are obsolete, very weighty (unbalance the jeep, specially on downhill), they have and transmit many vibrations that finally cut the frame and the body, they're slow of revolutionizing for accelerate, excesively noisy, etc.

The good face is that they are extremely powerful engines on low revolutions with a big torque, good gas milenage and easy to repair.

You can put it on a CJ2a without problems on hood. Over here in Europe it's common these engines on MB's, Cj2a/3a. But really rethink to adapt a perkins, nowdays there're better diesel engines to put on a Jeep.
This is my 4108 Perkins on a cj3b, I'm looking to change it for a VW 1.9TD
