Does anyone know of a source for a stock size body mount bushing kit with hardware. I know that body lift kits come with all the hardware, but I don't want a body lift. I want stock size bushings with the hardware. I've removed my tub to do some body work and welding and then plan on putting it back on. I had to cut some of the body mount bolts(especially in rear), as the nuts were spinning and were in a location at which I could not get to them. Let me know if anyone has a source.

quadratec had one when i went looking for mine a bout 5 months ago. It was on back order and I got tired of waiting so i just ordered the bushings and went to Lowes for some grade 8 bolts. :flag:

I saw the same kit on quadratec. Are new body mounts difficult to install one by one without taking the body totally off?

One person can do it, one by one. Just don't start tightening bolts until they're all in.
I just went to the FLHWS and bought bolts. Grade 5 are fine, grade 8 is overkill, but certainly won't hurt anything (besides your wallet).

The kit I got came with grade 5, My local Ace Hartware has both grade 5 and 8 in stock, really not much difference in price.
The hardest part is dealing with the old hardware. I had to cut most of the old bolts.

anyone have the bolt sizes dimensions? Also what did you do about the large washers?

I think 7/16, possibly 3/8, the washers werent a problem, my hardware store had fender washers in all sizes, the only problem was they only keep fender washers in grade 2.

The very early JEEPs had springs on the body mount bolts that would flex and then return to position. I have found several high quality bee-hive shaped springs on the ground at the salvage yard that originally held the head pipe to the exhaust manifold of sidewinder four cylinder front drivers. I plan to use longer bolts with these springs and steel lock nuts, or drilled bolts with castle nuts would look vintage. Just a thought to maintain tension without undue localized stress to the hat channels, etc.

Quick related question (at least I hope).

Whats the torque spec on the mounts?

I tighten my body bushings just enough to allow an impression on the face of the bushing.
Do not want to over-torque or the "cushion" effect may be lost!

See bottom for an excellent installation website! Has been an great reference....

    Regarding actual Body/Frame Bushing Torque:

Please, visit the following website. Is extremely informative as for Automotive style body to frame bushing installation(s):

None of the body mount kits I have seen include a mount for the grill.

What are you folks doing to mount the grill??

My grill had newer rubber pucks, which were in great shape.

    I just reused them.

But my Energy Suspensions body mount kit did not come with one, as you said you noticed.

I replaced the pucks but reused the fine threaded bolt and part inside the grill. I pried up the piece in front of the grill so that I could liberally soak them with penetrating oil before loosening. After puck replacement, I pushed it back down.

www.kaiserwillys.com also has other individual bushings for body/ frame application(s) including the grill to frame.
My ol 72', being forty years young... the grill to frame bushing was extremely distorted and required replacement as well.

Check their parts area out... is extremely diverse and their team has always been willing to help.

Also, NO... do not work for them. I work for the General (wife type person one each) and my CJ5.

    Safe wheeling,
