Another steering question

    When I rebuilt my 1945 GPW this past winter, I installed a Dana 30 front end and saginaw power steering. I fabricated shims and set the caster to 3* positive and toe-in to 1/16". The Jeep drives straight down the road with no wobble. When I am turning though, it does not return to staight on it's own.

    To correct this problem I believe I need to add an additional 1 - 2 degrees of caster. Is that correct?

    Think you are on the right path. About 5 degress is what I usually shoot for on the caster. I recall Willy Worthy had a piece on this in FourWheeler a couple years back that was pretty good-may be able to search their web site for it.

    If you have power you can go to 7 without any issues - I target 5 to 7 on my setups.
