Here is the first encounter with my 67 CJ6. She came from Colorado Springs. My brother picked her up and we shipped her to New England. The plan is a full restoration back to the orginal Jeep Kaiser built.

By night fall we had her prettly well cleaned out.

I don't have permissions for attachments, so until I figure it out sorry no pics. :( Will try to figure it out soon and will catch up on pics.

The tub, hood, grill, and fenders are off to the sandblaster. Pulled the transmission, T90, I will be able to reuse the case and the drain plug, but nothing else. Dirt and Water aren't good lubricants. The transfer case, Dana 18, and WARN overdrive look great, thank God for the sealed bearing between the trans and Xfer case. Pulled the motor this morning and the clutch is toast. The frame will go to the sandblasters later this week.

It is one of the sacrifices to be a free site

Cut out the obvious rust and we will be ready to go. I am sure more cancer will appear after the blasting.

Day 12: We turned her over and started cutting out the rust. Not bad for a 45 year old sheetmetal.

Also had some rotted out "hat channel" under the floor boards. No pics. Feel like a new parent with the camera.

Thanks, Shipping was easy. I picked a broker out of NC, once I asked for quotes, on-line, the e-mails started from everywhere, maybe 10 brokers. Picked the cheapest 3 and talked with them. The truck was out of AZ, he told me he makes the trip across the US 26 times a year.

I'm from Colorado Springs and think I saw that CJ-6 for sale. Congrats on your purchase. I'm glad to see it went to someone who will take care of it.
I can't wait to see more of this build. Good luck!

  15. Is the hardtop homemade? I sort of like the look of it. Something a little different about it.

A great start to your build pretty much rust free by New England standards.

The Hardtop is a Koenig "Jiffy Cab" Model 620. The PO didn't have the door hinges so had to put the soft top doors on for transit. Looks like a too large "hand-me-down" coat in the pics. Not quite sure what to do with it. I have it for sale on eBay if you wan to look at more pics. If it doesn't sell I will restore it for this Jeep.

I would hang on to both those tops, once it's gone... it's gone and you'll want it back.
A hardtop is nice in the winter, and the soft top for spring/fall, summertime is bikini time.
having both a hard and soft top for a cj6 is uncommon.
its not the hardtop that can be broken down to a half cab is it?

I wil hang on to it unless some one really wants it. It doesn't break down to a half cab. I wish it was a half cab, that would be my preference for a hard top on this jeep.

My first jeep was a '61 I had 30 some years ago. In the summer time I would "roll-up" the sides and back of the soft top, take the doors off and it was a great summer vehicle.
