inside the frame headers for buick 225

    for those who are looking for inside the frame headers for the dauntless, the advance adapters headers do fit. the passenger side will need a couple bends to get around the front drive shaft but the driver side has good clearance. i plan on running a 2 into 1 setup with the passenger side exhaust pipe going under the transmision infront of the crossmember. just wanted to give you guys another option besides the novak block huggers. http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-717041/

    Wow...that looks great! I'm in the middle of rewiring and those would be alot easier to work with, than the outside headers!

    they look great . but I wonder about the steering shaft passing through header area

    i need to get the body on to be sure but the shaft looks like itll clear but it will be a tight fit. can always add another ujoint and a heim for better clearance.

    Looks like it would be a bit tight with an SM465 and saginaw...

    Saginaw steering shaft would be in question..........perhaps even the old stock Rossmight be tight?
    Hydraulic slave mounted at the bellhousing in the push configeration may also have some issues...............can you post a few pictures at eye level to the frame?

    Nice - those are some of the issues we ran into designing the Novak block huggers (and why they are designed that way). It's nice to get more options that what we had to work with.

    What did the headers cost? Did they ever clear?

    Sorry i havent been checking the forum as often lately. I decided to go with traditional fenderwell headers. The novak block huggers would be a better choice for inside the frame headers.

    So what drove your decision? Fit? It might help people here to know if there were issues or if you just decided to go a different direction :coffee:

    The main problem is the AA in frame headers are designed for a 225 swapped into an older toyota. The drivers side dumps where the cluch slave cylinder goes. A push cylinder has no clearance and a pull type like im using is very close to the pipe. The passengers side dumps right where the front driveshaft should be. With the setup in those pics im worried the u joints and output shaft seal would overheat and get damaged. Im sure a good exhaust guy can make it work and i might try them again but im taking the easy way out with the fenderwell headers.

    Yes ,please tell why I am about to by some headers for dauntless 1969 225 v6 . I am removing a 226 L head I6 supper hurricane.Going to a v6.In a 1954 willys sedan delivery. Thanks for info.....

    Put what you want on it. Just be aware that V6s move around a bit due to torque and if the exhaust is tied in too tight it will crack, somewhere.
