Can anyone verify the dimensions of the Hurst Commando hood scoops? I've scaled the dimensions in the photos below from photographs, but it would really help me to have the exact dimensions.

    Thanks in advance.

For the non-Facebookers :p--An original is 20.5" front to back, 22" wide, 3.5" at the tallest point, 2.25" at the lowest and 5.5" at the opening for the tach

Thanks again for the help with the dimensions, here's the end result, I molded this yesterday and it's fresh out of the mold this morning.

I made it with a solid gauge panel, which could be cut out to accept the original factory Hurst tach:

Or, standard gauges could be mounted there (these are all just printouts of gauges I picked off the web)...

Two 2 1/16" gauges, in this case the new AutoMeter "Jeep" gauges. You wouldn't use two of the same gauge probably, but I just copied and pasted the same image twice:

    A tach and an inclinometer:

Or just a single gauge, in this case a tach.

Thanks again for the help with the dimensions.

Looks great! fb I would almost consider one of those over using my original.

    Thank you very much.

BTW, here's a photo of the underside of the Hurst scoop, you can see the mounting flange that goes along the inside of both sides and the front (no holes drilled in it yet). You can also see the reinforcement I molded in just behind the front opening so this one will never sag like the factory scoops do

Thank you very much. I just did this as a hobby project, I'm not in business to sell anything. The scoop was part of my project to build a complete Jeepster Commando front clip kit for the TJ - it's a custom hood, fenders and cowl panel that bolt up to a TJ along with a factory Jeepster Commando grille...

It's a complete bolt-on, all of the parts are direct replacements for the factory TJ sheet metal, no modifications are required on the TJ to install everything.

I'm now designing custom flat fenders in fiberglass, here's a few photos of a cardboard mock-up of what they'll look like:

I just do this as hobby, I don't sell anything.

Sometimes I license my designs to companies that are interested in selling them, but I don't think there would be enough demand for this kit to go to the trouble of finding a company that might be interested.

I always keep the molds in case I ever find a reason to make more though :).

I ran across an actual Hurst emblem, so I had to grab it for my Hurst Commando hood scoop project. Up until now I've been posing photos with a printout of an emblem :).

If you are interested in making more scoops I believe the AMC Rebel machine used the same scoop so there may be a market for a reproduction.

Where did you ever get the SS / chrome Jeepster grill overlay?
