Painting the JEEP logo

I know, I was going to say he has us beat on coolest tool!

 

Yeah I was wondering, when I asked the restoration body shop that just painted my tub how to do this, the first thing Jason said was “you’re crazy - get a decal.” He said to scuff the clear coat if I was insisting on painting it.

 

That's insane! I love it!

 

Well, here’s an example of how not to paint the Jeep logo….

bought these sponge rollers from lowes thinking I could just use them to paint the Jeep logo since they don’t have a nap and are supposed to provide a smooth finish for cabinets and doors.

Edges didn’t turn out quite as I had hoped.

 

That's good! Better than the factory. You might not like the edges,but the field is very even, much more even than the factory job.

If you want better, check with your local hot rodders for a pinstripe artist. Or a sign painter could do it. Ed Roth worked as a sign painter at Knott's Berry Farm for many years. And he pinstriped my Dad's Honda in the Knott's parking lot.

 

I think that looks great too!
