I am trying to find a replacement for the heater duct for my 58 CJ5. It is the main duct that leaves the heater under the dash (on the drivers side) and has a diverter for the defrost. About half the duct is made of cardboard with staples attaching it to the metal parts. The cardboard sections are in rough shape and I have restored all other parts of my heater. I thought about taking it to a place that does repairs to automotive seats etc........anybody have any ideas or know where this duct can be purchased from?

    Welcome Steve!

I'd encourage you to make use of the search function here when looking for information before asking a question.

I just did a search for heater duct and found this (there may be more):

This way we keep the number of threads down for the next person that searches for heater hoses.

    Hey Steve,

I too was missing this item in my '57. I was at WillysWorks in Tucson, Az purchasing a windshield frame when I asked about this. There aren't any being made that he knew of, BUT.....he said that a fully metal one out of a Willys Truck fit fine, and then he GAVE me one for FREE to try!

I simply removed the vacuum cans, blocked the "entry door" open, and it literally screwed right into place, the holes even lined up. It (the defroster part) could be rigged for the cables rather easily although I didn't do this living in AZ and all.

Sorry Sparky, I knew I could help with this one!

    Peter in NY,

I could not figure out how to reply to your private message. OK to email me at work. Your heater is the same as mine. I do have some pics I can send you as well.

Thanks for the info. I actually found this same part at "Walks 4WD" parts and ordered it yesterday.

    Thanks again for the help!
