Following for more info. I used to have a link to an original manual that was scanned but I lost it.

Why not support your local Jeep retailer and buy the frikkin' TSM? Jiminy H. Christmas. Not expensive ... especially compared to the later manuals. http://walcks4wd.com/repair-manual-1950-64-cj3a-cj3.html

Learn it. Know it. Live it.

I own this one, among others. http://www.bjsoffroad.com/1982-83-Jeep-Factory-Service-Manual_p_1045.html It was a bargain considering how much excellent info it contains. Consider your TSM part of the price of admission to Jeepdom. Comes with an extra helping of good karma. You can scan or photograph pages from it and help your fellow Jeepers.

I've had one on order from Willys America now for 2 months. The Wagon one shipped quickly, but the CJ is still back ordered. I was told they are printing more. I do try to support, especially since they are small businesses, just like my business is. So don't 'frikkin' make assumptions about someone. But for now I need to see if there is info and pics for a heater setup with the original early cable controls I'm trying to get done.

Sorry. Possibly too expressive. But the sentiment remains. This is such a common story... so many posters will spend thousands of dollars a year to repair and operate their Jeep, and then expect the service and parts information to always be free on the internet.

Two months on back order is too long - they are taking advantage of your patience. I'd suggest you cancel and buy from Walck's or whoever. EBay would be another option.

    Look here - https://www.google.com/search?q=ear...q=early+cj-5+service+manual+-haynes+-chiltons

Give the seller a call to order, and make sure they have a copy on hand. Even if it's out of print currently, it's not a rare book, and you should be able to find a copy with a little leg work.

I put some more comments in your heater thread.

FWIW I've heard that the illustrations in the factory service manual reprints are not good...better to find a used original copy on ebay or at a swap meet.

Huh. When I looked at RockAuto, I only found the Haynes manual. That would be a good source, if they have it in stock. Put it in your cart and see the cost for shipping and the delivery eta.

    RA lists a 1013 for 1945 - 1964, and a 1018 for 1953 - 1971. That is under literature for my 1960 Willys CJ5. 1965 also has a listing.

This posting might be a good hint and word to the wise on any folks that are buying a new vehicle. Back in 71 when I bought my Jeep part of my deal with the dealer was they had to give me a service manual. Back then I think they were only something like $15 bucks, and the dealer was happy to throw the manual in to make the sale. I know now they cost in the hundreds of bucks, but then the vehicles cost a whole lot more now also. The cost ratio is probably about the same. I would think that with a little pressure a dealer now would do the same thing to make a sale.
I still have that manual and took it apart a long time ago and put it in a loose leaf binder with tabs for different sections. Also put tabs in it for other items like my wrench, GM 2G carb data, all kinds of other tech. data. My wife and kids call it my "Bible" :D
Don't know how I could have gotten along all this time without that manual, one of the best things I ever did. Those Haynes and other manuals are in my opinion junk compared to the factory ones. To me even if it cost a couple of hundreds buck for a good original one or a good reprinted one, believe me it will be the best part for your Jeep you ever bought. And the cost will be made up later on when working on your Jeep.

    Wow! 1271 pages!
That is like two and a half reams of paper.

However, it if for JEEPS of 1981 vintage, which I do not have anymore. Would have been real handy when I did drive one, though.
