Swapped out a saggy rear driver side leaf spring. Jeep sat a good 1.5” short on the drivers side so I just swapped one. It sits perfect now! New 5-leaf pack, shackle, U-bolts, and pivot eye bushing. Only problem is now the new black leaf pack makes the rest of my frame and drivetrain look crusty

Oh, and that oil under there isn’t from the Jeep, it’s from my old floor jack that works faithfully but leaks like crazy. The Jeep has been pretty good lately, no drips at all (knock on wood)

I made a solid link for my plow that I can swap in at times like now, when I need positive pressure on my blade. Trying to scrape through the packed snow to get some rocks showing.

Made from the dash support tube from an Isuzu rodeo. :D I made it to utilize existing holes, but I think I might move the bottom link in a little closer to the jeep for more travel.

Hey! You got some snow! Maybe it's the beginning of a crazy snow-filled March.

4-5" overnight & a couple more this afternoon. It's rare that we get a snow that can't be cleared with a stiff broom...once upon a time (20+ years ago) I made extra $ doing commercial snowplowing but it just doesn't snow much anymore.

Done With my throttle linkage for now. I still need to drill for a cotter pin in the two rods, fill the old holes and paint.

I bought a double crankshaft pulley for the power steering swap. I'm looking forward to working on Farm Jeep Willy, no time what with paying work and such. I try to get on here about five minutes a night, hit some likes for all the handsome work being done, give you all a big salute and keep on keeping on. Carry on boys!

Started converting generator over to alternator. Fabbed up my own brackets and got the alternator/belt installed. Still have to do the wiring.

I had planned to install new front shocks today as well but I ordered stock front shocks and they are too short. Almost 6" shorter than the one I pulled off. Now I have to figure out what I need and regroup. :banghead:

Not without a few missteps. I bet I stalled the alternator 15 times, grind, install, grind, install...... afraid of taking off too much. All in all pleased with the alignment. The real test will be when I crank the engine and see if the belt tracks true, or slings off and hits the neighbors house. Lol

I got the wiring buttoned up on the Alternator, I am concerned it may be overcharging. It is reading 14.9V occasionally it hits 15V is that going to cause any damage to the battery or electrical system? Or is it only doing that because the battery was almost completely dead? And, I put a indicator light on since I don't have a good speedometer assembly yet. I know it looks hideous, but hey I won't miss it.

I also swapped out the old glass top fuel pump, only because it leaked out the front. Not where the glass is, but there is a square opening on the front and it was leaking gas through there. I have two of them and would eventually like to rebuild one to put back on there. But 50 for a rebuild kit or $28.00 for a new one.

  17. Yeah, my CJ is always past 15V on my dash gauge. When I check it with a multimeter, I'm at 14.7. Seems a little on the high side to me, but like you stated the battery has a major impact on the charge rate. I'm still running on the used battery I put in it when I bought it 5 years ago. The battery date code is 3/12, so it's officially 7 years old, about 2 years past alleged normal battery life. Either way, I've had no troubles with the battery for 5 years now even with the charge rate being fairly high.

Thanks, that is great to hear. I will watch it for a few weeks. I am going to get the battery charged and see if it improves.

14.7 is the book value, a little higher shouldn't hurt that much, it might make the electrolyte go down a little faster is all.

Thanks Howard. I checked it again today and it is still reading between 14.8 and 15.0. I noticed the battery weeping a little at the top so I pulled the covers to let it vent/gas out. It was nice to actually start it up without jumper cables. :bananatool::bananatool::bananatool: I also noticed the engine is not running as rich as wit was before. Coincidence, or are the points/coil providing more/better spark now with a good charging system.

Next on the list is exhaust. I have the muffler (Thrush Turbo from Advance), just need to drag the welder outside and weld it to the pipe. I know, disconnect the battery first. :D
