I have been searching for a source for Ramsey parts. I have a r246 8000 lb unit and need some parts. Any input would be appreciated.

I too am looking so I can do a full rebuild of my 246. I just happened to call Ramsey today and first asked if they offer a rebuild service (told no and not aware of any dealers offering that service) and second ask about gaskets, seals, etc and was told they get these calls all the time and it has been discontinued for years and no parts. She was also aware it was a 'Jeep' winch because I did not mention a vehicle, just the 246R model. So if anyone finds a source, please let me know as I can tell from the grease/dirt build up at the shaft seal that I need a seal at the minimum.

I find that very odd as they still sell these things, are you sure you were talking to the right departmnet? Thier industrial winches are, I believe, a separate division.

I called the main number for Ramsey and talked to both customer service and tech support.

Seals and bearings are showing up on their parts page & apparently can be ordered-

Failing that these are standard catalog items available through any bearing supplier, just take the old ones in & they'll be able to match them up (although Ramsey doesn't seem to have a problem with listing their supplier's part numbers).

I called the tech department also friday afternoon. I talked to a man and most parts are available thru Ramsey. Just need to put together a parts list from their literature with part numbers and call sales to price or order.

I also asked about the frame rails they supply with their winches, the 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 by 1/4 inch high strength angle iron. My question was if these were strong enough to cut to length and install between the frame rails of a cj5. They would mount on the lower leg of the frame channel and bolt thru that channel. He said that would be beefy enough, after all, he added, thats the way they have been mounted for decades. From what I have seen in my research some people build huge frames or braces added to these rails. Whats your opinion???????
This design is a simple mechanics problem, a beam problem, I just forgot how to solve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks!!!

Tomellen, I'm assuming the side part. Any pic or numbers from them? I've got to build a mount per Howard's drawings. So high strength, do they sell those front and rear pieces in high strength? Can you get me the number you called and who you talked to. The lady I talked to apparently didn't know squat.

The number I called was 918 438 2760. Technical assistance. Tulsa Oklahoma. Don't know the name of the person I talked too.
Howard listed this document in this thread.
    http://www.ramsey.com/Content/documents/manuals/industrial-winches/912404-0307-y.pdf
which is a owners manual for 200 series industrial winches which is what we have. The diagram showing the winch exploded view shows the angle iron which is attached to the unit, one on front, one on back. They do sell these parts.Other parts are also shown and part numbers are listed.

    Hope this helps.

So I'm finally getting around to this and the link to the parts list is no longer good, although I did find an exploded parts diagram for the 200 series but none of the part numbers come up at the RamseyWinchStore.com. I wanted to order the gasket/seal kit 54296 and the 2 #517 bearings. Any suggestions?

Yes, that's the RamseyWinchStore.com I mentioned no searches come up. I tried several times and just get the message to leave a message, which I did. I guess I'll see if they call back.
