Bought this trailer cheap. Told her we needed a utility trailer for dump runs. Converting it into a nice little trailer to tow behind the jeep. Spent the weekend converting the torsion suspension to leaf spring. It would only hold a couple hundred pounds. Changed hubs to 5 on 5 1/2 while I was at it. Fenders and paint next weekend.

Looks good. Where did you find the 5 on 5 1/2 hubs?

At the local metal and trailer supply.

Got the fenders welded on tonight. Just need to finish the paint. First use is to take 3/4 yard of busted up concrete to the dump. (NOT with jeep 9" brakes would be asking for trouble.)

Wife took the utility trailer to pick up some gravel today. It passed the load test ! 1 1/2 yards of damp gravel. I told her next time keep it to one yard. Got to go shovel gravel now :(

That little trailer has a bunch of weight on it. I'm impressed.

Aye aye! Love the looks of it. Any idea as to the manufacturer?

In the last pic, it looks like the fender-on-tire scrub brakes have been fully engaged. :worry:

Any info on what make or model this is? I had someone send me a pic of another like it, but they weren't sure what it was either...

Good looking trailer looks like it was a Uhaul rental trailer at one time

I was told that U-Haul quite literally designed their fenders to rub first if the trailer was overloaded.

I just showed this to a friend of mine who grew up on a U haul rental lot. He confirmed it is almost defiantly an old U haul trailer. Sure looks like a nice little unit to me,, I have often considered building one very similar. !.5 yards of gravel is well over 2000lbs, that a good load LoL

I'm betting closer to 3000#, that crush is dense stuff.

11/2 crushed gravel in our pit is 2250 per yard dry. about 3000 per in the spring when its wet. funny you would think the 3/4 gravel would weigh more but its actually a little lighter at around 2100 per dry.

no wonder I'm exhausted after shoveling crusher dust when it's wet. Moved 3 yards a while ago. Need another 2yds for another project. Too wet to either drive across lawn with our little dump truck, or to wheelbarrow it...
