What's everyone's feelings on clutch brands? All pretty much the same now a days? All from China? O'Reilys has a PowerTorque brand kit (K5317-02) for $128 after a 10% March discount and free shipping.

Try asking at a parts store where human beings still staff the counter.

I sure wouldn't trust whatever minimum-wage kid was on the schedule that night.

I have been running a LUK clutch based on recommendations from this forum - so far so good after a couple years.

Mickey, I just saw a complete clutch kit on E Bay for $125.00. come with pilot bearing, throw out bearing, disk, pressure plate, and alignment tool. I don't know about the quality, I have bought some things off E Bay that I was not happy with.

I just received a complete 81/2 clutch kit from rockauto and installed it. They had different brands to choose from. I bought AMS Automotive brand. Don't know yet about how it will perform.

The engine rebuilder re-surfaced the flywheel and said the clutch was only half gone. An old timer over on the oldwillysforum suggested just sticking with the old one for now as they are much better than this crap from China, given that it won't get but a couple thousand miles a year and wasn't having any issues before pulling the motor. I think I'm gonna go that route and just change the pilot and throw out for now. But first I'm gonna check with an old racer guy from the old days who owns a tranny shop here for his opinion. He has always shot straight before and does business the old ways. With the engine in the back of the truck, I think I'm gonna drive it by, and if he concurs, just let him stick it on and align it right then and pay for his experience since I've never done one before. At some point I'll be pulling the body to fix and paint and that's the time I'll be trailering it over to him to go thru both the tranny and TC and can replace it then.

    Valeo, Luk.

At least replace the disk and throwout bearing. If you can afford it, do the whole job ... disk, cover, pilot bushing, throwout bearing. Inspect the release fork and replace as needed.

Sure. But a guy like him thinks nothing of doing three clutches before lunch. Me, I prefer to do them once and once only.

I agree, but the transmission is going to come back off anyway for a later rebuild. :)

Another aye for LuK clutch sets.

I got the LuK RepSet kit, #01029 (for the V6) from Rock Auto.
The clutch cover has "South Africa" engraved into it.

They have a Brute Power clutch that is the least expensive. That's most likely Chinese manufacture...

So I'm back at this as far as having the tranny out and gone thru. Anyone else want to give experiences with clutch brands? Also going to check into having the clutch redone at a place in San Antonio.

LUK clutch is still working fine after another summer of wheeling...and with a T14 I do burn more clutch than I wish - but its never had an issue yet.

Where did you get it from. Having trouble finding it for the CJ5 with the F134.

Put a Luk on my son's TJ. Got it on Amazon, he gets a discount since he used to work for them.

Put a Luk also on his Honda Civic, the new throw out bearing started making noise not long after and when it started overheating with
230K + miles, we gave up and sold it for parts. I put the wheels and tires on my Toyota Carolla beater.

Never could get that Civic to stay cool all the time, replaced radiator, fan, switch, relays, thermostat, still intermittent over heating problems.
    Clutch was good though.

    I run Centerforce.

Do all of the centerforce clutches have high spring pressure?
I've known people who used them in 4X4 Toyota Trucks but it took too much leg pressure to press the clutch
for my taste on those rock crawler Toyotas.
Might just be the competition clutches.
