The serial number is 8705F1762931. I believe it is not a 1967 but a little older. I have a 1967 Jeepster Commando I will be putting up for sale soon. I would like to include this other one as well but I have to get the year to try and get the title or salvage for it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch! Ruth

We have a serial number document posted at the top of the forum. !! See This Thread For Serial Number Or Vin Questions !!

What you posted is a VIN - vehicle identification number - and the serial number is the trailing numeric part.

There is no specific year-of-manufacture information in the VIN itself. You can infer the YOM by comparing the sequential serial number portion of the VIN with other known serial numbers and their year of registration. Look in the thread - there is a table or PDF document.

    Welcome from Boston!

Note that Pete is asking for pictures because YOM can be narrowed down from the features of the Jeep.

Hey Ya'll. Thanks for the welcome. I have attached some photos to help identify what year this Jeepster may be.

Thanks for all your help. Just trying to get a title if needed on this or salvage so I can sell it along with a 67 Jeepster commando I have.

To narrow down the year compare the serial number of your '67 Commando with this one you're asking about, which might be newer than your '67. I'm saying that because of the big front parking lights.

Also it has reflectors, I think they also indicate newer.

The other Jeepster I have is a 67 so I thought this was newer due to the side reflectors. That darn serial number tells me nothing about the year. Ughh.

I just meant see if it's higher or lower than your '67. The assumption is it's going to be higher.

Got it. I think. The serial number for the other Jeep I have with title is 8705F16 19364. Which is earlier than the serial number of the one I'm looking for of 8705F17 62931. I love this site. You all are so much more helpful than the locals here in Sheridan so far! Thank you!

    Welcome Ruth!

It would be considered a 1970 model year Jeepster from the info I have. Remember, the model year switch over usually occurred around the end of August or early September.
