So I just replaced the headlights and now one of the lights doesnt have high beams and the other does. On the low beams they both work. My only explanation would be a bum headlight?

Could be a dirty/bad connection on the plug, check with a test light or meter.

This. Look at the wiring diagram. There is one wire for high beams and one for low beams that goes to both bulbs. They share the ground. It has to be the plug or a bad bulb. Swicth the lights left to right and see of the missing low beam follows the bulb or stays with the bad plug.

I prefer using test light to debug problems like this, the smaller ones can get into tight spots. Good to have in toolbox. Check to see if there is power on high beam contact in plug.

I just switched them side to side to determine if the light was bad or not and they started to work perfectly fine after that.

Sounds like a dirty or going bad connector then.
