I was told this is the original motor for my 56 pickup. It's a supersonic 226 but has a super hurricane head. Anyone know if this was used in the 56 pickups and should I find the correct head ?

I thought the Supersonic was in cars?

It was. I read Kaiser used the supersonic blocks with hurricane heads in the truck for a bit. Don't know if that true though

Well, if it's true then your engine is how it came from the factory so that has the cool factor. :)

Well, a catalog I got from Willys America says the Super Hurricane and the Super Sonic are the same motor, but that's all I see at the moment.

i purchased a flat head 6 with the super hurricane head but the water pump and the fuel pump were different from my original engine. also, it has a 2 bbl carb. seller said it was a high compression engine - but he also said it was newly built when actually it was a burnt up engine. oh well, buyer be ware. water pump is same as engine used in early henry j's. fuel pumps may be interchangeable but the water pumps are not. hope this helps

I've got a spare Super Hurricane with the 2 barrel setup....water pump appears to be the same as in my wagon which has the one barrel.

are the fuel pumps the same? i have no clues or paper work to explain these differences. don't know much about the supersonics. based on info from interacting with others on the web parts from other models were used interchangeably at random. my engine block does not have any id.
possibly it is a supersonic with a super hurricane head. do you want to sell your spare?

It would have KF on the side of the block if it's a supersonic. Same block as the hurricanes just has KF

I haven't had the fuel pump off but I didn't notice it looking any different than my other one. Sorry but it's not for sale either.
