The short version of a long story is that my Grandfather died 25 years ago and left his Jeep to my Dad. The Jeep was tucked away in a storage container and not touched for the last 25 years. In an attempt to give my old man a great birthday gift I dug out the old beauty and washed it up. It was parked with a freshly rebuilt 350 and no carb (rags in the bore holes) My main question is if anyone else is running a 350 what are you using for a carb? Anyone have a good 2 barrel option? Or should I switch out the manifold and go 4 barrel? Oh and here are some pics... cause who doesn’t want to see that right? EE94315E-7D7F-4604-AC0A-93C8D4C7C7B7.jpeg

I don’t have an opinion on carbs. But, Love that color blue.

I would second Tim-go TBI!!! All kinds of options and info these days. As for the 2 bbl versus 4 bbl, I have always had better results with the latter. If you can keep your foot off the accelerator, the 4 bbl will get better mileage and low end response. That said, I have no personal expectations of ever installing another carburetor on any sbc. EFI is sooooooooo much better, especially on rough trails and boulders. And it probably almost doubles engine life.

The Quadrajet is a very good off road carb and was factory installed on a 350.

Assuming you have a stock 2 bbl iron intake manifold, just use a Rochester 2 bbl with venturies matching the manifold bores.

2 bbl for now so you can actually USE it. EFI later if you feel that mileage and easy starting is worth the effort for a vehicle that will likely see occasional use.

You say rebuilt engine? With NO miles, or just not many? Assume that the cam has not been broken in. Follow cam break-in procedure. I'd drain oil and change filter before touching the key, add break-in oil, prime oil system. Observe oil out of rockers. Then light the wick and rev it up according to proper cam break-in procedure. Then change oil anf filter again after break-in.

I also like Tims idea and would go EFI right off the bat. If you wait till later, it won't get done, trust me I know. You can pick up a turn key in the box EFI now for under $800. Sounds like a lot, but in the long run, well worth it. Heck, you can spend half or more than half on a carb and intake. But a EFI 350, priceless.

Holley makes a truck avenger that looks like it might work nice it’s a 4bbl though. I am to looking for a good small block carb and found that in my searches. Hope it helps
